Before breakfast one fine morning, she had just reached the summit of a small cone-like hill. She put her hand over her eyes to shade them from the burning sun. She looked out across the yellow fields of corn and saw three figures in the distance, approaching Pemberley House itself in an open carriage. There appeared to be two females and one male. She had never seen them before and wondered idly if they were here on business with Mr Darcy.

She went back to the house. To her surprise, Darcy was not in the sitting room. Neither was Mr Wood-Carton.
